Leisure & Lifestyle

Opportunities abound across the Riverina-Murray to pursue leisure and lifestyle activities. There’s skiing and snowboarding in the east, hang-gliding and ballooning in the west and across the region cricket, tennis, all codes of football, netball, basketball and athletics and more.

The arts and theatre are well represented with Wagga Wagga home to the National Art Glass Gallery and the Riverina Theatre Company the longest running professional, regional theatre company in Australia.

Albury is home to the world renown Flying Fruit Fly Circus and the Hothouse Theatre Company the largest and one of the most successful in regional Australia.

The region is one of Australia’s great food bowls. Griffith and its surrounding areas produce some of Australia’s great wines. Australia’s largest and most successful exporter of wines to the USA, Casella Wines and internationally known De Bortoli Wines can be found in Griffith. Albury and Corowa are just a short drive from the wine producing areas of Rutherglen and Mulwala. Farmers’ Markets abound where residents can take the opportunity to purchase locally grown produce as well as a wide range of locally-made food products.

The Murray Conservatorium of Music is based in Albury and the Riverina Conservatorium is located in Wagga Wagga. In addition to providing top class musical tuition for a wide variety of instruments they also organise professional concerts.

There are theatre venues across the region regularly hosting visiting artists and shows. Galleries and museums including the famous Temora Aviation Museum, which hosts the only flying Spitfire in Australia are also found across the region.
